Entire design made from Timber. Like the look of this material.

Elevation: final materials. Concrete for the majority of the structure. Timber features

Perspective: Final choice of materials. Timber feature covering the inside of the tubes that people can walk on and swim through.

Feedback, To Do:

  • More views from a person's perspective
  • Platform to be floating on the water so it stays at the same level above the water.
  • Timber can bend into different shapes
  • stone or concrete
  • view from the path to the left of the boatsheds that shows it extending out and how big it is. Does it reach the existing breakwater wall?
  • Boatshed for functionality. Lockers, changing rooms, toilet and shower.
  • section drawing: extend ramp and draw the side and bottom of marina
  • add people
  • basis in sketchup, add more in photoshop to create more of an image.

Perspectives

My concept is a platform extending out from the path in front of the boat sheds that is for public use. It is a great place to go and chill out, socialize with others and have some fun in and on the water.
It is made up of several different shaped components that provide different levels for people to walk on and interesting to the idea. There are also underwater elements for people to swim through and interact with. The end is steep and provides a challenge to get up but once there, people are surrounded by amazing views of Wellington.
Materials I originally thought of using were either metal or timber. Timber is a natural material and would look nicely in the environment. I also thought of having metal that would not corrode or rust on the water. This material would also have to have a non-slip and reflective surface so that it people don't slip or get too hot walking on it.
This platform in front of the boat sheds would be nice in summer or on a nice day where you can stand out and take in the views.
